Romance and a Winner!

My publisher has romance novels on sale for Valentine’s Day–beginning today. I’m excited about this sale. If you have never read Annabelle’s Ruth or Rebecca’s Legacy, now is a great time to do that. Click on the meme for direct links to purchase the books.

We are just four and a half weeks from the release of Open Water, book 2 of the Home Found series. I’m on pins and needles about this book. I had so much fun writing it, but let me tell you, there were tears along the way. Maybe a trail of tears. And danger.

Make a “date” to join Lisa and Jake on this second installment of the Home Found Suspense series!

Release Date: March 12, 2024

So many secrets whirl around in this second chronicle of the Home Found series. Lisa and Jake learn more about her past, and about each other, in this dramatic suspense.

Winner! Thank you, everyone who entered on last week’s blog post to win a $5 Amazon gift card. The winner is author, Terri Wangard! And it just so happens, Terri also has a book releasing on March 12. So, as a bonus, here’s a link to her new release, Seashells in My Pocket. Congratulations, Terri!

Adrift In Open Water

My tenth novel–Open Water, Book Two of the HomeFound Suspense series–will be released March 12, 2024. You can preorder it right now.

As much as Lisa Oliver wanted to believe that she could be safe in the small Kentucky village, she knew that wouldn’t be the case when Agent Farrow’s car pulled next to the school where she had been working. They’d found her again? Who was stalking her and why?

Jake Bradley uses his widely popular “Jake on the Road” articles to help him continue to follow leads into Lisa’s past, but he didn’t expect the people whom he spoke with to be attacked and killed. How could he possibly protect this woman who had become so important to him when he so miserably failed at learning about her past and why someone had killed her parents?

So many secrets whirl around in this second chronicle of the Home Found series. Lisa and Jake learn more about her past, and about each other, in this dramatic suspense.

Long Awaited. Yes, many of my readers have wondered, “When can we expect book two?” In fact, I was wondering, too. Confession time: I’m not a fast writer. I’m not really even a consistent writer. If the story is building and I have the entire thing ready to write, I can sit for long hours and type, type, type. I love those times. But there are other times, when I have to work things out, research facts, and rearrange timing for the best flow, etc. It’s time consuming. Distractions come to whisk me away.

What’s the story? If you have read Still Water (Book One), you will be happy to know book two continues the journey for Lisa Oliver and her handsome friend, Jake Bradley.

What’s with the water theme? In Still Water, we learn that Lisa is troubled by recurring nightmares. Not only that, but she has a deeply-rooted fear of water. She’s not sure why. The nightmare is her only clue.

Still Water

No spoilers here (not yet, anyway). If you have not read book one, now is a good time to do that. The Kindle version of Still Water is on sale for only 99 cents – for a limited time. You’ll find more information about the book and a handy buy link here.

You may have found this blog post in your email, if you are following my blog. Thanks so much for following, by the way. Or, maybe you’re on my newsletter list. However you found it, thank you so much for reading. I hope you will buy and enjoy the books. If you do enjoy reading them, please consider leaving a review. Good reviews help writers sell books. 🙂

All right, dear readers, if you made it this far, I’d like to ask you a question. Please leave a comment with your answer to be entered in a drawing for a $5 Amazon Gift Card. Here’s the question: In Open Water, what was Lisa doing when Agent Farrow found her?

When Last I Posted

Where has the time gone? As 2022 winds down, I’m catching my breath. But what a year it’s been. I am working on book two of the Home Found series – title to be announced at a later date. I have enjoyed discovering Lisa’s story. Jake has become one of my favorite characters. In book two, his “On the Road” columns are growing in popularity. Which is a good thing, unless you’re trying to blend in.

I know I left my readers hanging at the end of Still Water. It was unfair of me to do that so, I’ve thought of a way to fill the void between the books. Jake sends Lisa post cards. If you’ve read Still Water, you’ll remember who “R” and “LJ” are. If you haven’t read it, or have forgotten who they are, Lisa is “R” and Jake is “LJ.” Can’t tell you more than that without it being a major spoiler for those who haven’t read it yet. 🙂

Here’s a sample of what you can expect in the interim:

Lisa will write journal entries or send letters (via FBI Special Agent Zach Farrow). Here’s a sample of one of Lisa’s journal entries:

By the way, what do you think Jake means by the “AML” in his note? It was 1972–pre-cell phone and pre-text days. I will continue to post these updates at least through Lisa’s Christmas break, because something really special happens (no, it’s not a proposal). I hope you’ll watch for more of these coming soon.

A bit of business news. I have moved my website to a new host. It seems happy here, but some of my followers are telling me they no longer receive email when I post. (To be honest, those posts have been few and far between lately). If you have previously followed this blog and no longer receive email notification of a new post, you may want to refollow.

If you are my friend on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, I’ll share the post there. You can find links to all of my media on my “About” page – Author Media.

Coming Soon! I was invited to write a cozy mystery novella, along with six or seven other authors. Those will begin releasing in early 2023. There will be games and clues and giveaways involved with all of the releases. Sounds like fun, huh?

It’s fall, y’all, and we are headed into the last couple of months of the year. Winter is upon us. The holidays are coming. Sometimes we feel weary and overwhelmed. In those times, I love to reread one of my favorite scriptures. I hope it blesses you, too. Thanks for stopping by!

…but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 ESV

Home Found Suspense

We are days away from the release of the first book in a new series called Home Found Suspense. The book is Still Water. Here’s a brief glimpse at the story:

Crime reporter, Jake Bradley, has stumbled onto a suspicious accident. The clues lead him to Lisa Oliver, the daughter of the victims. Something about her draws Jake Bradley, and he vows to help her at all costs. When the FBI warns him off the case, Jake is more determined than ever to find the truth and keep Lisa safe.

After the sudden death of her parents, Lisa Oliver yearns for a place to call home. When she meets Jake, she wants to trust him, but her father’s mantras of self-sufficiency and independence create a stumbling block. As the wall between them crumbles, the past encroaches, and Lisa fears she will never be free. Is she forever doomed to her parents’ nomadic lifestyle, fleeing unseen enemies?
